As a first year veterinary student, my curriculum encompasses understanding of the normal anatomy (radiographic and gross), physiology, and histology of large and small mammals (as well as fish and birds). I�ve also completed coursework in parasitology, immunology, behavior and epidemiology. My current Clinical Orientation course covers the hands-on aspect of both general and systemic physical examinations of large and small animals, which includes vaccination sites, blood drawing technique and catheter placement. I�ve also done wet labs in nasogastric tubing, equine dentistry, shoeing the foal and lame horse, nerve blocking, and care of neonatal calves. |
